It is ok to put 18in rims on it. The only time that you have to worry about handling changes is when you start severely affecting ride height. Example if you were to put 22 or 24 inch rims on it then it will widen your turning radius and you wont be able to make turns as tightly as you can now. if you wanted to with an Altima if i remember correctly you can even go as large as 20 inch rims and not affect handling but you will have to go with ultra low or low profile tires with 20s.
